I am having a problem with paint residue that has dried after I wetsanded. If I use a damp cloth and work at it I can get it to come off- but it is a lot of work. I can scratch it off with my fingernail though. If I paint over it with fresh paint will the residue absorb the chemcials in the fresh paint and bond with it? I am a little worried that there might be problems with adhesion.

it's been mentioned many times, but have a bucket of water while wetsanding, and a cheap shammy, right after wetsanding an area, clean it while its still wet with the shammy, and rinse it often. you'll have no residue, and you should clean the paint after wetsanding with mineral spirits and a rag, followed with a tack cloth before the next coat. don't paint over the residue from wetsanding.

Damn, I knew I was missing something!
