Bob- I hear what you're saying, but if you could paint this stuff over epoxy primer, that might be good. And if it does have good rust protection, it might be worth while experimenting. Your many hours of prep aren't really going to be ruined by the topcoat Tremclad/Rustoleum and it could be block sanded off if it didn't work.
