I used Rustoleum spraybomb professional on the gas tank of the sig car. I did it about 10 years ago, and it's still holding up well. I live on a dirt road too, so you know rocks get thrown at it regularly. It gets harder than the regular rustoleum and is a whole lot less gummy/sticky.
