on alluminum wheels i used tremclad silver wheel paint in a spray can, just sand the wheels until really smooth and then spray it on, worked great on a old oldsmobile i had. depends on the finish you're looking for, that machined look you cannot do, but just silver paint, use the wheel paint.
The tremclad silver is a different product than the other tremclads, its the only one thats formulated to go onto aluminum/topcoat itself (it contains actual aluminum in it, though with excessive touching the pigment comes out. and you'r not supposed to topcoat with clear or anythign because of the aluminum in the paint it wont bond properly (I was gonna use that paint on my car, but looked into it and no such luck)
