As for the thickness of water, after trying it several times I gave up on measuring and just mix it till it looks right, which to me is like maalox I think. definitely thicker then water but still thin, it's hard to describe but you'll see after a few times experimenting which is the right mixture. Just get it to the thickness where it's not running when you put it on a vertical surface, and a couple minutes after you first apply it, run it over very lightly with just the roller (no extra paint but no need to clean it off) to smooth it out.

In my experience it appears orange peely at first, but after drying it's not (as long as the mixture is right).
