The makers of VirScan have completed a study of Covid-19 patients. A few of their findings.
Patients with Covid-19 are more likely to develop severe Covid and be hospitalized if they have had past infections with Herpes Simplex virus (HSV-1, the mouth cold sore virus) or Herpes Cytomegalovirus (CMV).
Some, but not all, patients who have been previously infected with the 4 “common cold” coronaviruses create an neutralizing antibody that “cross reacts” with Covid-19 and makes the disease milder.
