IIRC, People think I'm crazy! just look behind the front spoked wheels of some AFX'rs with the whole front brake assembly removed for weight savings and less drag.
Buddy of mine did that on a '62 Valiant Slant car to save weight. First pass he went through the traps at 110 and went right into the wall when he hit the brakes.
