Keep an eye on what you cut. You don't want to weaken stuff. Though having a full cage gives you a little more liberty to trim some fat in places where the factory chassis relies on.
I remember helping a friend lighten a certain Stage 2 headed Buick G$, yes you read it right, Stage 2 heads........ and he decided to go crazy on the rest of the car against my wishes and advise..........and he had no cage at all........... and after that, the car was drunk all over the track. Where as the car used to leave in the low 1.40's on the track. 150th St. track that is.
