I would use the existing American steel and reinforce with good plate of the same gauge. That's what I did with mine. Why is it that you have to move the box? Are the head exhaust ports and headers giving an eviction notice to the steering box? Are you now going to have to run a heim joint type of steering linkage? Perhaps a Rack would be better at that point?
