You got that right about the "plated" race cars back then. Which in all, was a lot safer than the hyped-up street rides with NO safety gear in them. As I said before, the "pro's" know their cars, on and off the track. They set up quickly, got the run on quickly, and got off the street quickly while being SAFE AT ALL TIMES. They never tried to draw large crowds which would hinder the SAFETY FACTOR. That's what drew the police to the area.
