As soon as the Barnes cover arrived yesterday, I got to work on the shave. The second design 14 bolt has a bunch of stiffening ribs on the bottom of the center section. These ribs are about 1" tall, so I cut and ground them down to about a 1/4" in height, in an effort to make them less "catchy" on rocks and such.
I haven't decided how I'm going to fill in whats left of the 14th bolt hole. If you have a suggestion, I'd like to hear it.
