It took about an hour to work through the staging lanes, but it was made a little more bearable by a couple of bratwursts and good company. It was nearly 4pm when I nosed the Valiant under the tower, and I could hear the announcement that they were closing off the back of the class car lanes to begin bringing up the Street Machine Eliminator entries.
"Well, this may be your only shot...better make it count", I told myself.
I decided the best way avoid the nasty hesitation that had plagued me all week was to leave off the trans-brake and the two step. I didn't have confidence that the 904 would handle it all week, but now I didn't have anything to lose.

The Valiant left with the wheels up off the brake, but it pulled hard out of the groove to the right and spun when it landed. I had to wrestle it back to the groove as I grabbed second, she felt...OK...the rest of the way down. While it was enough to outrun Robert Smokowski's SS/SB/NA 72 Nova, I was pretty sure the time slip wasn't going to thrill me.

I was on the scale at 3140 when Boone made his final official run of Drag Week 2015, finishing up with an 11.39-118 while Calvin Hayward's Pink Fox Body caught him in the lights with a 7.87-181 after spooling the turbos for five seconds to give Boone a head start. The picture below should show the Barnyard and the Mustang, but the photographer seemed to be preoccupied with Calvin's girlfriend instead of the race.

Trapnell's Monaro also finished up a successful Drag Week 2015, as Lohnes relayed the story that they actually did arrive in Cordova before the 2pm deadline, but after it was called for rain, so they were allowed to take a 20.00/50 and continue.
