Here is some new fresh meat for y'all. Back in 1976, as we were travelling to Talladega for the 2nd wing car meet, we were driving down US 41 in Kentucky - and over the CB, some one says, "Hey did you see those Birds back there?" We laughed about it thinking it was a joke. The reply came back, "No there is a yard full of Superbirds back there!" So we stopped and turned around, and sure enough, there were four wing cars in the yard. Turns out they were owned by Mike Zachary and his father.

Fast forward to 1984, Moparts member Fastmark was on the hunt for a Bird and travelled to Kentucky to see the legendary Zachary collection. Mike and his dad had expanded the collection and bought a ton of wing cars at what would have been considered very high prices for the time. The thought was that they would make out well on them down the line. They were right! The only problem was the cars sat outside for a long time.

Mark sent these photos in back in 1984, and here they are from the DSAC archives...

Mark says that when he arrived, he gazed in wonder at the graveyard of vehicles. A nose here, a wing poked up there, etc. All in all, nice wing cars were nestled in among the flock.

First off is a yard overview with a '70 Runner 'vert.
