Can you direct us to any legislation that is in the works? Got details of what you're working on? If it has anything to do with intentional grey areas in rules to allow vinning reproduction bodies or rebodying cars it would be a tragedy. You're in the business, how can one be certain repro vin bearing items (or fender tags) are not going to be fraudently utilized. It does not take many bad apples to change production history.
With all due respect, ECSVIN is far removed from all this "re-body" controversy. It doesn't even register on our radar. Our programs deal with the LATE MODEL newer vehicles and has nothing to do with the validation of older cars. We are involved in keeping counterfeiters from hurting or infiltrating the Collision industry. We do have access to information on every vehicle that was manufactured after 1955. We don't treat every person as a crook if they simply ask or inquire about certain information! We also do not tell people misleading information so WE can control the industry. The "verification guys" have been lying for YEARS about what people "can" or "can't" do with THEIR property; aka Cars. Isn't it funny that THEY are able to provide those "illegal" services for you (at a price) yet they have NO formal authority or legitimate "power" whatsoever? Self Ordained Dictators!!! This has been my ONLY point from the very beginning of this debate!
