Here are some findings with the variations on the carpeting. Notice the difference in the jute padding that was in this car. The tags read for a "Barracuda" but were in a Challenger! The vendor is also different from the J.P. Stevens style that is predominately found in E Body vehicles. There is a slot in the carpet instead of a brass grommet. I have not found an E Body with the brass grommet in the carpet as of yet. While talking with Bill Embree, he stated that the attaching feature was only to hold the carpet in place while the workers did their interior assembly jobs. Once the interior was installed, the clips and slots had served their purpose to hold the carpet in place. This was more of an assembly feature incorporated to keep employees from kicking the carpet out of place before it could be permanently positioned.
