Im just wondering how you were able to get an adequate balance using such large brakes.

FWIW 70-30 is close to ideal, the majority of the weight transfers to the front of the vehicle during hard braking so rear lock-up is always a concern... Lighter brake applications lock-up front or rear isn't much of an issue but the harder you stop the more weight is transferred... Typically an adjustable proportioning valve is added to the line going to the rear brakes so the pressure to them can be limited.... Once the car is on the road & has a few miles on it so the brake pads have had a chance to properly bed themselves, take it to the testing location of choice... (I live in a farming community so...) Leave the adjustable valve at full pressure... Anyway start off easy, Threshold braking from maybe 35-40 mph if the rears lock-up reduce the pressure to them & try again... When things are good at 35-40 raise the speed to 55-60 & try again... It doesn't take long to get it balanced & then you'll feel much more confident when you need them to work...
