its 1" thick to get the caliper spaced out from the mounting flange, not because they wanted a thick bracket. then they milled it down 1/2" to accommodate a thinner bolt.

so...a 1/2" thick bracket, with 1/2" "washers" to space it out from the flange, would get the job done and do the same thing.




If it was half inch thick, I would recommend steel as the material.
Are the front brackets steel? It was my plan to use steel regardless.





yup, the fronts are steel. thats why I was surprised that your rears were aluminum. I planed on using steel anyway.

I have some steel plate that's 3/8" thick, that should be plenty thick enough, especially since the loads will be sheer loads through the cross section, and not a bending force.

if I used the 3/8" plate, the plate won't be the weak point, it'll be the mounting hardware, and standing it off the 1" from the mounting flange, so I'll look at that when I fabricate the brackets
