Can't help but look at this as much more than just a dirty old rusty car... I mean, when this was put in the ground:
- Chrysler had just started using torsion bars - They hadn't built a unibody car yet (the Airflows don't count) - The slant six was still 3 years away - Push button automatics were futuristic and trendy - Seat belts were not yet standard equipment... airbags? whassat?? - Richard Petty was just starting his racing career - Superbird? Daytona? Huh? - The early Hemi was still offered in new cars - Fins were in!
What has happened since the last time this car saw the light of day?
- Viet Nam - The Lunar landing - The musclecar era came, went, came back again - The internet - Funnycars - The second gen Hemi came and went - My best buddy lived and died - NASCAR changed from basically showroom-stock vehicles to something that isn't even remotely related to a showroom-stock vehicle - Chrysler almost went bankrupt twice, invented the minivan, was bought, sucked dry and sold by a German company....
I could go on and on... just overwhelmed by all the history that has happened while that ol' thing was buried underground.
