how much hp does one mph equal? I have heard alot of different stories.

The increase in horse power needed to gain velocity is a exponential curve, a funtion of velocity squared. Simply put to gain 10 mph from 100 to 110 needs way less power than it takes to gain 10 from 150 to 160. There is no set broad formula as the cars drag coefficient needs to be known. All cars have a different CD.
