When I started working on truck again I didn’t have a 518 so I picked up a bare case with pan from a friend who runs a transmission shop. I didn’t occur to me at the time to get a valve body. Just to set up the shifter it really doesn’t matter what VB was in there.

I’m still looking for a donor truck to hopefully pull a good 518 out of, but if I can’t find one by the time I’m ready to actually make the truck move, I’ll just buy a rebuilt. I really don’t want to buy a rebuilt at this point as by the time the truck is ready to drive chances are any warranty would be long gone.
