SAE engineers (not owned by mopar) rated the 8.75 over the 9 inch----and the dana 60 over both as stock units......if you want to spend lots of money and be able to say 9 inch all the time then build a 9 inch---the aftermarket chased the 9 and made it what it is today---the same way the aftermarket chased the SBC and made it what it is today....maybe we should all be putting chevys in our muscle cars--it only makes sense...
Thats true in the STOCK form.. not many of us run anything in the stock form.. a few bucks(not many at all) and you have a nice 9".. the support is the biggest thing and thats not much at all.. then the spool which most guys would do anyways and the back brace which is another cheap item.. once we learn what gear we like MOST of us never change gears again unless you build a different combo.. now days there are way more gear choices for a 9" than any other
