Not sure who keeps bumping this up, but here's an update.
When I lost the u-joint, it cause more damage than I thought. I got under the car to adjust the clutch and the tie rod ends to make a trip to the Nats. I found this. [

Good that you found it before you hit the road. I had a bellhousing crack in two radially once and the pistol grip about beat me silly before I could get stopped.

Seriously, imagine what would have happened if the trans had dropped down. Yikes.

It was ugly enough when the u-joint went. I thought the car was going to vibrate apart. Also happy it stayed in one piece.
