I was tentatively planning on designing it to use something like this. http://www.summitracing.com/parts/SUM-G2887-1/ Then it would work with any other type of square wave input from other sensors. It would need to be calibrated of course, but that's easy enough.
And/or it would take another pair of inputs to read the sine wave from a reluctor type pickup.
