but I see a Dana in my future. Hmmmm. I have a 4-speed Dart, as well...

I don't, you won't find one that bolts in for 50 bucks ...

I have an answer for a cheap Dana 60...
1) Find a Jeep Gladiator in a wrecking yard
2) If it has the stock Dana 60-2 in it, buy it...the one I bought was completely rebuilt. It had a stock PowerLock carrier with stock 4.10 gears, stock 35 spline axles with 5 on 5.5" pattern, stock rebuilt 12" brakes, new stock tapered Timken roller bearings (Set 7). I am going to use it in my '87 D100 (16" wheels fit the brakes & axles), I had one tube shortened 6" and 1 axle shortened and resplined. I bought a new 1310 pinion yoke and new seals.
The price tag was this, $400.00 for the rear, $400.00 for machine work, $150.00 for new parts, My labor to break it down and reassemble $0.00.
$950.00 complete. It would fit an A-body with 16" wheels(or you can use Mopar ends on the axle tubes, the bearings are the same, cut down the axle flange for a 5 on 4.5" pattern and use Mopar drum backing plates and 10" or 11" brakes for more expense to use 15" wheels...WTF???) and it will fit my truck (distance between spring centers is same). Oh, I will need to have the driveshaft shortened 1.12" and set the dreaded pinion angle, but I will do that at my new shop The benefit of having a Dana 60 under a 1/2 ton truck = Priceless.
