First of all I need to set something straight for you guys who don't know me very well (if at all). I don't take it "personally" or get "upset" when someone alters an original car, I just see it as a loss to the hobby in general when original details get lost in an uneducated restoration effort which effectively destroys original details that would be impossible to replicate if they are already disturbed or cleaned away by said effort. I'm a history buff and believe documenting what few originals are left is important to the future of the restoration hobby regardless of the purpose the car is used for AFTER the documentation work has been done.

Also, restoring cars to O.E. condition, documenting originals, etc. is only a portion of my interest, and probably the segment of the hobby that I have the most experience with. However, I also enjoy modified cars very much and have owned and raced several race cars and street strip cars as well. So, as you might imagine I do see things clearly from both sides.

While it's nice to know and is good for internet fodder, the world doesn't necessarily need anymore tedious documentation of original survivors. There are countless originals that have been well documented over the years and just about all of what has needed to be determined regarding what is or isn't correct on these cars is now known.

Mike, I'm sorry but other than the larger more basic items I completely dissagree with you on that one, I've discovered and learned about new details with almost every survivor I have seen. To say "everything" has been documented already is simply not the case at all!
