Hand tools that are left on the lawn will not sprout next spring and grow more hand tools. Don't ask me how I know!
And the lawn mower CAN find them, even when you can't.
But the most entertaining way to recover lost hot wheels cars as a kid was to lose 'em on the lawn, then wait eagerly for Dad to mow.
Golf balls were good, too.
Nothing like watching pop's face turn red after there was a loud "Bang." and He'd jump about 3 feet, accidently let go of the safety handle and have to spend 5 minutes restarting the lawnmower with the pull rope.
