I recall and I cannot remember where a story about a guy who ordered a RR or a GTX very early in the model year, he told the salesman he liked the 68 wheels better, the salesman said he could swap them out when the car came in with ones they had in stock, so he placed his order and thats what they did.

If they were avaiable the car would would of came with them.

Again not from the factory, a door botton you hardly notice, wheels you would really notice.


I have to side with this thought from what I saw growing up. Mind you I was 10-11 in 69/70 but I had my head in all the new cars I could at the local dealers and read everything I could. I think I believed I was a CAR at the time. I look at it this way, in 1972 I haven't seen any documented cars with 71 center caps. I know my neighbor worked at a dealership and told me stories of the salesman would swap anything he could within reason after the car came off the truck to make a sale.
