I think the reasoning behind you seeing the chrome rims is that they are cheaper than replacing the rims plus finding the correct trim rings as they are a one year only trim ring for 1969.
Correct, those trim rings (2944161)could be about the hardest part to find for these cars, you rarely see them come up for sale, if you do see a 69 with trim rings 9 out of ten times they are not the correct ones.
