The cars are so valuable yet difficult to impossible to have repaired in the event of a collision. Modern body shops only go back maybe a decade. I can see where someone may only put 200 miles on their car per season.
Yep, that is one thing that changed completely since I was a kid into cars. They became investments to a certain crowd which raised the price on everything related to the hobby. Gas prices have also gone up a bit since I started driving, although when adjusted for inflation they aren't that high. Gas prices have cut down the driving for fun thing I did back in the day.
