Chrysler didn't dictate the stampings on the replacement block. The individual States did. I know for a fact the in 1970 California required the replacement engine cases on motorcycles to be stamped with the original VIN numbers. I had a 1970 Honda CB750 that threw the drive chain thought the case and the dealer was required by CA state law to stamp the new case. I have heard of other states that required it on automotive engine blocks because it was listed on the registration. Different states, different requirements.
