Trans in its final resting place.....

If that was mine, If I am seeing everything correctly, I'd add 2 mirror image gussets as space allows for expected exhaust pipe clearances, on either side of those slightly off vertical flat bar pieces connecting to the rectangular horizontal tubes. The current connection is a stress concentration point, and likely to have little rigidity because at that connection point the cross sectional area is suddenly greatly reduced. How much loading on this member is unknown, but the weakness remains.

Doing that would definitely make it stronger. What you dont see,or maybe you can,is there is 1/8" plate stacked on each other on both sides, but spread apart about 3/8" at the tops where in ties into the cross pieces. My attaching bolt arrangement also helps the crossmember from being springy. If I could've afforded a Magnum T56 like Darren used I could've used the factory crossmember location and worked from there but this seemed the lesser of 2 evils with a Viper trans.
