The key to stopping a trailer is having good brakes on it. I pull my Dart on a 18' gooseneck trailer with a 14 Ram Crew cab 4wd with 3.21 gears. The trailer has 5200# axles with brakes on both and have hauled my 7000# tractor and had no issues stopping. Just have to adjust the gain on the brake controller. Why anyone would buy a 24' or bigger enclosed trailer without 5200 or 6000# axles is beyond me.

A buddy of mine just bought a new 2500 with a 6.4 and 3.73 gears but hasn't towed with it yet. He's replacing a 98 CTD 2500.
