The steering shaft was rubbing on the valve cover, a bit-o-dremel work on the corner of the vc and the head and now there is enough room for movement. I did have to tilt the motor around a little bit to find the best clearance too. This is one big headache solved, and it's the first time I've spent any time on the vert in a month. I asked for next week off for vacation, they are balking a bit but I should get it, it'll mean 11 days (because of Mem. Day) straight thru.
