Argon43, The pic you have with Don Grother--- the black 62 Dodge wagon in front of him is 'The Supply Wagon' out of Amarillo, Texas. It was owned by Gary Doose & wrenched on by his brother, Dennis. Their sponsor was 1st Supply, a parts house & machine shop in Amarillo.
Gary was the Division IV Stock Champion that year. The wagon was a 343 horse Clay Smith 383, with two AFB's in-line & J heads. The J heads were almost impossible to get, so fortunately Chrysler superceeded the 67 magnum 915 heads (I think). It was one of the first to get one of the new J convertors from Chrysler. Carroll Caudle (Modified World Champion in his 55 Chevy) built the motor. It was capable of low 12's in legal trim.
