Eric, Yeah it was a lot different in '68. No such thing as adding or removing weight to make a class. My Sports Satellite's advertised shipping weight was 3475 pounds and the 383 in my car was rated at 330 HP. Same engine as the RR's rated at 335 HP but supposedly my exhaust system was more restrictive hence the 5 HP difference. Of course we all ran headers so that negated the 5 HP difference real quick. My weight/hp factor put me in the top of F/S in '68 and the RR's weight/HP put them in the middle of E/S. Again this is where we were and you couldn't be lighter than advertised shipping weight. The SS 383's were not competitive because they were factored the same and because SS/F was the lowest class that's where they ran. Unfortunate because the 440 GTX's weight factor put them in the same class. In '68 and '69 the RR's had to spot me .1 sec. and we were running identical cars almost.
