I've always had an interest in the earlier S/S cars as well as stockers when they were still running 7" tires. Was it 67 or 68 when the 7" tire rule went out the window? I think Jere Stahl's 66 Hemi Belvedere A/stock car was one of the most dominant cars running at that time. He won about everything there was to win in '66, and again, on 7" tires going 11.50s before the year was up with the street Hemi. To me, the stockers and early S/S cars were pretty impressive considering the tire constraints and what they had to work with. A whole lot of learning about what worked and what didn't work certainly took place from say 61-66 as much or moreso than maybe other periods.
