I'd skip straight past the Getrag those trucks were born with, and hunt down a NV5600.

I don't get the love for the 1st gen... but to each their own. The ones with the bucket seats were nice. I always believed that was Dodges answer to the incredibly crappy ride of that era of trucks was to put a better seat in it
