Greetings. I have a 70 Chrysler Newport 2dr car with a 383 cu in motor in it. It was originally a 2bbl motor, but I have upgraded the motor with an edlebrock performer aluminum intake w/ an 650cfm AVS carb. I had to trash the original 2bbl throttle and kick down linkage; I found a 4bbl throttle bracket which bolts up fine to my 383 now that it has a 4bbl carb. However, I can't figure this out, the car shifts from neutral to drive gear VERY softly....also there is no "kick down" action speak of. The 383 motor is rebuilt and is pretty stout (has lots of MP goodies in it and a "magnum" grind camshaft) but driving it around to day it felt like there is a tiny 273 or 318 2bbl motor under the hood. Any suggestions? Thanks for any input.
