That is what I've seen too. The sheet metal stuff doesn't seem to work very well for single carb. Works great for dual carbs. I think it is because the curved runners are too hard to make in sheet metal.

It wasn't that long ago that I came across pics of a single-plane sheetmetal intake for the first time and didn't realize anyone even made them
