eek

Seems like you could find a safer way to squeeze out a bit more performance w/o sacrificing engine durability. And that's ASSuming you can verify that removing the filter does, in fact, show improved on-track performance.

Ok, why do we remove the air filter or run the drag car without one? Anything that restricts flow..

T stood for 1963
MP was maximum performance (max wedge I believe)
HC was the high compression version, 13.5 vs 11.5 I believe

At least that is what I recall from playing around with them back in the 80's.

You are correct about the actual block differences though, none.

Thanks, you nailed it. Wish I had it back, sold the whole car in 78 for $2800 lol

I was looking at those like 2010-2018
I'd have to check if they fit, attachment points etc, but I'd assume they move air. Plenty of room with the OEM fan gone.
The 8HP70 controller is CAN and send the temp values, and has other AUX output, but I'd prefer a dumb thermal switch.

The MAP sensor is usually a weatherpak for some unknown reason. It is a complete bag of stuff on GM engines. Ford and Chrysler engines can be even more weird.

I have bought 4-speeds from both Brewers and Passon, both are capable, knowledgible Mopar experts..
The last 4 speed I bought from Passon was his 18 spline OD unit as I wanted a transmission with new gears not a rebuilt with 60 years old recycled gears.
The Passon OD unit worked out just fine, fit well and shifts good. The gears were noisy at 1st install time but after 500 miles they quieted down.

Just my $0.02... wink

My advice is get rid of the add ons you did and go back to factory wiring. It worked for years and there is no reason for it not to work now. Just a suggestion. shruggy

I guess we can't say what it is yet, but you're closing in on it. You know it's not the ammeter at least. I'd go through everything you did the first time double and tripling checking the connections they make and also the condition of the wire in those areas too. Keep with it.

Agree with the Poa comments above. Its lighter green grass much of which can be easily pulled root and all by hand. I have some larger spots of Poa Trivialis in my yard, this is the difficult one. Poa Annua you can control a bit easier. Its best to dig it up, bit of new soil and sod or seed. The issue is the seed in the dirt could be there for years and keep coming back. When you have Poa, you have to play the long game to get rid of it.

A website called "do my own lawn care" has some herbicides that could help. Stuff like Aneuw, Tenacity and Certainty may have some effect but these are expensive and provide no guarantees.

I've been living with the Poa because of the larger areas. The stuff will die off when temps are consistently in the 80's. You can also add a bit of Ironite to darken up those lighter green spots.

Best of luck!

Yet another reason I like my 98 2500 ...

I don't know what year they changed from the Dana 60 to the American Axle rears. I blew the rear in my 96 2500 V10 at 150K too though...

AAM change over happened in the 2003 model year ,

You're an animal beer , I have 2 Dana 70';s , one has 230K miles in a truck I bought new. 2000 2500 4x4 , now I have the 98 2500 2wd that just rolled 212k , I bought it at 172k , unsure of history of the rear axle but it had a 5th bolted in it at one point and google earth told me the previous owner had an excavation company , but the truck still had it's factory installed shocks and exhaust system going by the date codes on them when I bought it and the rear sounds fine.

That said I had an early 2001 2500 2wd w/Dana 70 that had 328k on it when I bought it that was a farm hauling truck ... 1" thick steel plate welded across the frame rails and a gooseneck ball poking thru a hole in the bed ..., it howled when I got it and someone had changed bearings. I changed them out when I got it and the gears looked ugly, but it was a local use only for me so I just slammed in new bearings and drove it as is ... it howled less ... till I traded it in with 330K ...

That hose on there now is crimped, pretty sure, it's not a good idea to somehow remove and recrimp to a new hose.
So effectively that circled connection needs to be replaced.

The circled part is called a ferrule, it's a sleeve that fits over the end of the hose and is then crimped. The ferrule can be cut off and the hose removed from the end of the metal tube. Problem is, the barbs on the end of the tube are incompatible with the new barrier hose so the old barbed end needs to be cut off and a new barbed end welded/soldered on.

As stated, any competent A/C shop can do this.
