In 2016 Jeff Lutz burned up a spindle on the Strange strut on the Pro Mod Camaro about 2 miles from the hotel, which was less than five miles from the track. Jeff and the Camaro sat alongside the highway all night long waiting for parts to get there in the morning, then fixed it and drove to the hotel for one half hour of sleep. When we were leaving the hotel at about 8 a.m. Lutz was just rolling in and had not even slept. If it would have been legal for them to tow the car to the motel parking lot, sleep while they were waiting for parts, do the repairs there, then tow it five miles back to where it broke.
