If you have any power and plan to beat on it the 700R4/4L60-E/200R4 or whatever variation you are looking at will not last, they are fragile even when every aftermarket part available is thrown at them.
Local guy with an ~450 horsepower 396 Chevelle has gone through 3 in 5 or 6 years.
Those F bodies hold up because as long as they're being easy enough on it that that 7.5" rear end can hold up then the tranny is fine too.
