Fred ran quick enough in his last qualifying session (8.51 or 8.52, I can't remember) to lower the current national record held by Jim Pancake. However, NHRA requires that a record run be backed up "after" the record attempt, previous runs do not count as a backup. As that was the last qualifying pass of the event there was no record obtained that day. Fred's 8.48 was run in the first round of eliminations and no records can be set during eliminations. So, the existing record is still 8.55.

Irregardless, it was a great weekend of racing for Fred with BOTH of his hemis!
