I would not live in west Tn for anything. Memphis is the arm pit of the state and it spreads out to other areas. My brother lives in Clarksville and loves it. 40 miles north of Nashville so everything you would need is within driving distance. I like the areas south and east of Nashville myself. Slower pace and more affordable. Knoxville to me is too congested.
Ive been to Tenn hundreds of times over the years and IF i were to consider moving there I think somewhere near Nashville would be a good place to look.
Just outside of town as reasonably as possible for the same reasons, WAY to much traffic and tourism .
Anywhere near Knoxville would be out of the equation for same reasons
