Can you just bolt on aluminum heads to a stock motor, dont you lose a point in compression or do they come milled so they already take that into consideration?

Thanks guys.

Porting makes me nervous as I've heard a lot of things like big money to do, you need someone who knows their stuff, its an art form, off the shelf heads flow better.. etc. I'll just spray it orange and the "collector police" should be happy.

Doing the bowls of the heads gets you the biggest
gain in port work... so with that and clean the pinch
area some and just cleaning the tree limbs out of
the runners you could be set...that doesnt cost too
much unless you can do it.. but if I were pulling
the heads I would port them, valve job, seals and
check the springs... lucky for me I have the equipment
in my little shop to do all that...... get some prices
and compare to a set of heads.... for a street car
I always started at the rear and went forwards....
in other words... gear first, converter second then
the engine work... lets face it... your going from
stop light to stop light... and in doing it this
way it was ALWAYS the cheapest way to get a good
run from the seat of the pants dyno
