I didn't get to try and fire up my motor yesterday as I had hoped. Still trying to hook up the wiring and since I am using an electronic ignition. I'm still a little confused. I was reading some articles online about starting an engine with minimal wiring that said all you need is a positive battery cable to the starter, negative cable grounded to the block and a wire from the positive on the battery to the positive on the coil. Then either jump the solonoid terminals or use the remote switch to turn it over. Another said another wire is needed from the distributor to the negative on the coil. Also, if I have to have the ballast wired in there because of the electronic ignition, should I run the wire that goes from the battery to the positive on the coil go to the ballast first and then a wire from the other side of the ballast to the positive on the coil?

I also wanted to ask, I currently have the engine set at TDC. What should I do to get the timing closer to where it should be for the engine to fire up asap? I don't want to be cranking it over for too long while trying to set the distributor timing to where it needs to be in order for the engine to start.

Sorry for all the questions but I just want to make sure I get this right so I don't ruin anything.
