So looking at these heads, it seems that the exhaust springs only have a damper spring in them, none on the intake. Is that normal? Thanks.

The spring on the left has a rotater. They were on exh valves on truck engines. If you were building a mild engine and wanted 340 springs you could not do it. The valves are made for a shorter spring. For what you are doing you will end up with .100 long sb chevy valves or maybe magnum valves. Don't try LS valves, I just did a set with LS valves, and what a PITA
