Greg, I think you mean 6.535" rod:

+9.980" Deck height before milling (400 block)
-2.125" Stroke divided by 2 (4.25/2)
-1.300" Wiseco piston compression height
-6.535"
-------
+0.020" in the hole before milling the deck

My current motor happens to be milled to 9.960" deck height, so that would fit perfect if the pistons and rods were exactly spec.
