The collar mounted on the front of the driveshaft will move a lot forward and backward on a ladderbar car, and I wouldn't even try it on a leafspring only car. If mine doesn't work where it is by the front yoke(ladderbars) I will either have to mount two rings together or weld a boss on the tail shaft and either use the parking lugs or mount a collar in there.

How did you guys mount your magnets on your yoke? I have no where to put the collar. I dont know why your dust shield sticks out so far but if you can push it back you will have plenty of room.. also... if you notice in the couple of pics that the magnets themselves are only a 1/4" in diameter so you dont need to make it much thicker than that EDIT Or do as Monte said.. trash the dust shield and slide the magnet housing to the rear(just clear the case)

Machine the yoke if needed or it can go on the shaft itself. The Cuda was mounted on the driveshaft for years with no issue but it was a 4 link deal.

Summit has different yokes available that would probably fix your issues and be stronger too.

Stronger? That's a 1350 yoke from Dr Diff.
What's weak about it? My mistake I thought it was a stock one. My Dana has the same issue so I will be ordering one from Summit so I can mount my ring on it

A little late to the game on this but I thought I would add it in case it helps someone. A little garage fab from some scrap aluminum, and a racepak collar, plus a cherry hall effect sensor and bingo, driveshaft RPM sensor. I will use this to log driveshaft speed as well as show MPH on my megasquirt. This is a Moser yoke that I already was using, it has a nice machine 2.125 surface to mount a collar.

This will be short lived, I am putting in my spare center section since I broke two teeth off of the one you see pictured. I just bought a D60 housing to start the journey down that road.
This bracket is a little overkill but its what was laying in the garage, at least it is aluminum lol.

On my Dana, there was no room even without the dust sheild. Bought a Strange yoke and had The Drive Shaft shop "Supershafts" shorten the drive shaft.

So the yoke is physically longer to accommodate the spacer.... that's good to know. Correct, then it's easy to make something to hold the sensor.

well.... at least you have a yoke part number to start your D60 project with It would seem that way wouldn't it? lol I just bought a Moser Billet yoke for a D60, thinking it would be like the one for my 8.75. It's not, it doesn't have room for a driveshaft collar. It would be nice to use the Moser yoke I have on my 8.75 but it is a 10 spline piece and there is no ten spline gear sets available for the Dana 60. So I emailed Moser about the 29 spline 8.75 yoke they offer and it to is different and doesn't have room for a collar. Welcome to hot rodding! Looks Like I will check out the strange yoke that HEMITIS is using.

Hemi-Itis you don't know what the ID of that sensor collar you have is do you? I am curious to see if the one I have already will work with the strange yoke. Given my luck I am sure it won't but you never know haha

There's a plethora of tone rings on Racepaks website. Scroll down on the price listing sheet. I ordered a 1.37 ring and will shim it to my 1.33 output shaft and am going to drill and tap the tailshaft housing. Yeah but I already have one with a 2.125 ID. I emailed Strange because I will more than likely use their yoke but so far no response.

Nice Work! I have seen someone mention using the park "wheel" with a sensor before, that might be something I try next time I have the trans out.

Divide the thread pitch into 1 inch. 1" / 16 = .0625" One turn out from bottomed would be .0625" .

If you have Wilwood rear brakes you might have an easy way to add a sensor to pick up the wheel studs for wheel speed/vehicle speed.
On my Wilwood brackets there was an extra hole on the front side of the bracket that is just above the flange for the bearing. It just happens to line up perfectly with the wheel studs. For my particular sensor I had to enlarge it a little and knock the corner off of the housing end flange. I haven't driven it yet but its the same sensor and wiring as I used before I switched to the dana. I wanted to due the park wheel in the trans but this was easy and already wired haha.
This was a very rare project, it only took 30 minutes and didn't cost a dime.

So the setup posted in the picture above worked, it for sure had some lost resolution from when I had it on the driveshaft with my 8.75. Going from 8 pickup points on the driveshaft to 5 on the wheel did make a noticeable difference in the logs. It also had a small bump in the log I couldn't get out, likely because the wheel studs are not machined perfect and one of them was probably a little out of range of the sensor. It was driving me crazy so I bought a kit from Motion RaceWorks, they have a combo of Strange Yoke with a tone ring, sensor, and sensor bracket. I already have a few of the sensor they use so they dropped that off the price and added their black friday discount a week early. https://www.motionraceworks.com/products...rol-for-dana-60The 16 points of resolution on the driveshaft yoke should be super smooth.

That is nice Andy but I don't have the pinion snubber pads like the S60 has. This is just some random pickup truck Dana that I had cut down.
