Never let a critical part be the lowest hanging part on a street car. If you need more volume get a pan with the sides kicked out.
You've got the chance to make it a streetable car now. Sadly, if you built that engine correctly with a pickup hanging down to the bottom of the pan the engine will need to come out to swap the pick up tube for a shallower unit.
